INJURY PREVENTION and MANAGEMENT
It's not possible to safeguard against injuries completely. Sudden injuries can happen anywhere at anytime and can simply be down to bad luck. But when it comes to exercise related injuries you can train smarter to reduce the risk of being affected. Injuries picked up through regular exercise are known as repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) which are most likely caused by overtraining and/or inadequate rest. Common RSIs include shin splints, knee tendinitis, tennis elbow - all causing pain to the affected area when exercising. The first thing you should do to combat these injuries is stop doing the exercises that are causing the pain. It sounds obvious but most of us are guilty of training through an injury because we're so homed in on achieving a fitness goal that we're blind to damage we're causing.
